10/2/12- The sun's radiation heats up the atmosphere. The second is a form of radiation. The third is a form of convection.
10/4/12- The denser/cooler water will sink and the cooler water will rise. The saltier water will also be much more dense. Therefore, causing the water with a higher salinity level will sink. The result of these actions will cause ocean currents.
10/9/12- Prevailing winds are global winds. Example: trade winds, easterlies, westerlies. They are predictable and they are important to sailors and other wind related jobs. They are not influenced by structures on earth's surface such as forests, cities, and mountains. Local winds can change with the season and time of day. They are the direct result of local differential heating. They are affected by land structures and bodies of water near landmasses.
10/11/12-
barometers - measures air pressure
rain gauge - measures rainfall
thermometer - used to measure temperature
anemometer - used to measure wind speed
sundial - used to tell time of day according to sun's shadow
hygrometer - measures the amount of moisture in air
weather vane - measures wind direction
Doppler radar - measures sound waves
wind sock - measures speed and direction and wind
weather balloon - takes weather readings higher up
10/12/12-
southwest because the Coriolis effect causes the winds to veer to the left
10/15/12- Cold weather would come down with high pressure and the temperature would be warm because the low pressure air would be on the surface.
10/16/12- Wind is formed when different air pressures mix. it is fully covered skies. the wind speed is about 25 naughts. Wind is coming from north east.76 degrees outside.
10/17/12- It increases because you are forcing more and more air into the balloon which makes a concentrated space of air. Wind is created when you release the balloon because the high pressure area is being moved to a low pressure area.
10/22/12- Low pressure was created inside the can since the air was being warmed and it is less dense. High pressure because the air was cold so it was more dense and it contracted.
10/23/12- Oklahoma would experience clear skies with dry weather because they have high air pressure. Vermont would experience wet, rainy weather because of the low pressure in the area. Dallas is experiencing high pressure because they are in a high pressure area while Chicago is experiencing low pressure because they are in a low pressure area. Seattle is experiencing high winds because they have thirty knots coming from the Northeast.
10/24/12- There is more humidity. There is more room for moisture for air. In a low pressure system is in the zone, air rises and cools, condensing and releasing water vapor. We can expect a high pressure system with clear skies.
10/25/12- An air mass is a large volume of air with the same temperature and moisture content
10/29/12- It is cooler weather with clear skies and dry in Dallas.
Denver is having a cold front, cold front is continuing in southeast direction. high pressure is coming in. severe storms.
Chicago is experiencing a low pressure system. It is gonna be warm because of the warm front.
10/31/12- There are many high pressure systems and few low pressure systems. There is a cold front coming down from Canada. There is also a warm front going into Canada in the top right. There is an occluded front by New York.
11/1/12- The gulf stream current brings warmer water to Clifden, Ireland, which makes it easier to evaporate. A hurricane is low pressure system because everything is being pushed into one area. Benefactors are clouds, moist air
11/5/12- They bring warmer or colder waters which make it easier or harder to evaporate. This makes the climate vary. Clear skies because all the air is pushing down and there is little moisture so clouds don't form.
11/7/12- You can expect possible light showers and humid air with warm temperatures. You can expect thunderstorms and cold weather.
